People came ready to party at Art Basel Miami. Where else can you spend your days looking at giant art installations and lounging on the beach, and your nights flitting through fêtes hosted by the likes of Chanel, Gucci, Alicia Keys, and Playboy? The first in-person Art Basel Miami since 2019 didn’t lack star power, and photographer Lili Kobielski captured the scene for Vogue. “Overall there seemed to be a pent up demand for fun! The fair and the parties were more packed than I’ve ever seen in my four years covering Art Basel,” she says.
Kobielski captured art fans in their natural habitat. Some posed in bikinis with sculptures on the beach; another partygoer wore a large nameplate necklace that simply read “art” in all caps. Nobody seemed to shy away from dressing vibrantly, or seductively. The opening of Chanel’s newest boutique, attended by the Haim sisters and other celebs, was an elegant affair—the perfect occasion to wear a white tailored cape shirt, as one attendee did. At an event where Alicia Keys led 600 guests in a guided meditation—organized by Therme Art, Superblue, and MindMaze—the mood was appropriately zen and reverent.
