Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli wins the Designer of the Year award

The British Fashion Council last night held a grand gala event and awards ceremony hosted by actress Jodie Turner-Smith to celebrate the most exceptional brands and individuals in the world of fashion who have been breaking new creative ground over the past 12 months.

With an international judging panel that includes more than a thousand experts and key members of the industry, The Fashion Awards 2022 celebrated 23 awards which include 15 Leaders of Change. The most coveted award of the evening, Designer of the Year, was presented to Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Each winner went home last night with a stunning trophy designed by British- Nigerian designer Yinka Illori, and the evening closed off a year of growth and success for the British Fashion Council as the foundation tallied up over $1.6 million in funds over the last 12 months to support and nurture talent and diversity in the fashion industry.

Some of the other more significant awards of the evening in London were presented to Bella Hadid for Model of the Year; Burberry for the Fashion Award for Metaverse World and Gaming Experience; and Wales Bonner for the Independent British Brand award.
